Obituary for Ronald Hall at Flamm Funeral Home (2024)

Ronald Earl Hall, age 88, passed away peacefully from incidence due to age on June 25, 2024, in Provo, Utah. He was born August 27, 1935 in Annis, Idaho, the 8th and youngest child of Earl Clark and Eva Mae Stewart Hall. He was the last surviving member of a family of eight children,
four boys and four girls. The reunion in Heaven must have been wonderful as he stepped across the veil.

Ronald grew up on a small farm and learned to work hard, where as a teen he assumed responsibility for his parent’s farm after his older brothers all left home. He served as student body president at Rigby High School in 1954, the first of many leadership positions he would have in life. After high school he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central America Mission from 1955 -1958. Upon his return, Ronald married Helen Winona Murdoch in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 22, 1958, and together they raised 12 children; six boys and six girls.

Ronald attended Ricks College and later received a BA Degree in Spanish from the University of Utah. He volunteered and also worked professionally for the Boy Scouts of America and later received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in recognition of his contributions.

He enjoyed farming, and wherever his family lived he always had a farm on the side, large or small. Once his children were old enough to help, he always had acreage and cattle, as he valued hard work and the lessons it provided in building character and teaching them to work.
He owned a large dairy farm outside of Rexburg, Idaho, several years before it was transitioned to the present BYU-Idaho Livestock Center. In addition to farming, he often had other employment to provide for his family: a public school educator, seminary teacher, owner of the
R&B Drive-in, Madison County Assessor, and later, appraiser for both Bonneville County and the State of Idaho. Like many others living in Southeastern Idaho in 1976, he and his family survived the Teton Dam Flood disaster and in subsequent years rebuilt their home and farm, an
experience that brought many blessings of triumph over tragedy.

Ronald loved missionary work which began as a young man in Costa Rica and Guatemala. His children grew up listening to his stories of teaching the beloved people in those countries. He later served missions in those same areas accompanied by his wife, Helen; first as mission
leaders in El Salvador, then presiding over the MTC in Guatemala, teaching at the Provo MTC and finally serving in the temple presidency in Monterrey, Mexico. Their dedication to spreading goodwill and faith was also reflected in their efforts teaching English at Heifi University in China, where they left a lasting impact on countless lives.

One of his favorite callings was serving as a sealer in both the Provo and Monterrey Mexico temples and, in subsequent years, he had the privilege of performing the sealings of many of his grandchildren. Ron was a great storyteller and loved sharing stories from his youth and his
missions. He will be remembered as one who passed on his faith in Jesus Christ and his determination to live the gospel to its fullest; a farm boy of no great renown who simply loved the Lord, his neighbor, and served both in faithfulness to the end.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, two granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters. He is survived by his wife Helen; his children, Stephanie (Dale) Gibson, Stewart Hall, Gregory (Pearl) Hall, Natalie (Bruce) Godby, Kimberly (Alan) Blackham, Bradley Hall, Lorilee (Trent) Richardson, Lisa (Bret) Banks, Marsha (John) Larsen, Brent (Becky) Hall, Steven (Debi) Hall, and Brian (Marci) Hall; 66 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren, with five more on the way.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at the church building located at 4775 North 300 West, Provo, Utah; with a viewing held that morning from 9:00 -10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Orem Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
