Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo 2024 event schedule: something for everyone (2024)

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is kicking off the 2024 rodeo season with a schedule brimming with competitions, festivities, performances and more.

The 23-day event begins Friday, Jan. 12 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 3.

From the rodeo and stock competitions to wine tasting, live music performances and a carnival, there is something for everyone at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

As the organization’s slogan says, “This thing is legendary!”

Here are some of the standout events on the schedule:

‘Best of the West’ Ranch Rodeo

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12

The rodeo portion of the program will kick off with the “Best of the West” Ranch Rodeo in the Dickies Arena. Spectators are in for an authentic exciting experience, watching working ranch cowboys compete in seven events. The two-day event also will include a round of mutton bustin’ each night. Tickets are required for this event.

Stock Show ‘All Western’ Parade

When: 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13

Don’t miss the Stock Show “All Western” Parade in downtown Fort Worth The parade will pay tribute to law enforcement agencies from across the state with mounted units from several agencies. Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo organizers estimate a whopping 3,000 horses will participate in the parade, breaking the 2023 record of 2,800.

Reserved seating tickets must be purchased in advance of the parade. Two options are offered: seats at the convention center for $15 or at Sundance Square for $25.

Best of Mexico Celebración

When: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14

Celebrate the origins of rodeos in Mexican culture at the Best of Mexico Celebración in the Dickies Arena. The exciting event includes charro exhibitions, mariachis, folklorico dancers and more. Tickets can be purchased on the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo website.

Cowboys of Color

When: 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15

Celebrate cowboys and cowgirls of color at the Cowboys of Color Rodeo in the Dickies Arena on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Cowboys and cowgirls of African American, Hispanic and Native American background will compete in traditional rodeo events such as bull riding, steer wrestling and tie-down roping. Tickets can be purchased on the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo website.

Bull’s Night Out

When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 16 & 17

Watch some of the best professional bull riders in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) go head to head with some of the rankest bulls in the world at Bull’s Night Out in the Dickies Arena. Tickets can be purchased on the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo website.

Vine 2 Wine

When: Wednesdays, Jan. 17, 24 and 31

If you want a break from the action and to relax and savor the moment, check out the Vine 2 Wine events. Fancy yourself some wine at the Sip & Shop wine tastings at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, and Wednesday, Jan. 24. More interested in learning about wine making and grape varieties? Attend the Wine Camp events Jan. 21 and Wednesday, Jan. 31. Tickets for each event can be purchased on the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo website.

Miniature Horse Show

When: 9 a.m. Thursday and Friday, Jan. 18-19

If you’re looking for a dose of cute animals, stop by the Miniature Horse Show. The show is free with general admission tickets for the rodeo.

FWSSR ProRodeo Tournament

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, through Saturday, Feb. 3

The main attraction kicks off Friday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. The tournament will be ongoing with daily events through Saturday, Feb. 3. PRCA athletes will compete in nine events — including bull riding, bronc riding, steer wrestling and barrel racing — for a grand prize of $1 million. Purchase tickets for the rodeo on the program website.

Stock Show Bowl Varsity Equestrian Competition

When: 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25

Watch Texas Christian University and Delaware State University go head-to-head in the Stock Show Bowl Varsity Equestrian Competition in the John Justin Arena. This is not a ticketed event.

Lone Star Open Bid Calling Contest

When: 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28

Watch auctioneers from all over the country compete to see who is the best at their field. The contest will take place in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall in the Round Up Inn. A variety of items will be sold. This a free event nonticketed event. Bidders, however, will open their wallets if they win a bid.

Kids Gone Wild

When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28

Families can appreciate the wonders of nature for free at Kids Gone Wild, which will be held in the Cattle Arena. This free event introduces youngsters to a wide range of animals, from snakes to insects, and helps them gain an appreciation for how those animals contribute to their world. There are a number of hands-on activities, including crafts, digging in the dirt (who doesn’t want to do that!) and the highlight ­— fishing in the Kid Fish Tank!

High School Scholarship Rodeo

When: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3

High school rodeo athletes from across Texas will compete in 13 events in the Coliseum to win a share of $26,000 in scholarship funds.

Live Music Performances

When: Daily

There will be live music performances every day of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. The lineup boasts several music legends, including Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Smokey Robinson and country music star Trace Adkins.

Carnival Midway

When: Daily

Enjoy amusem*nt rides, play games and eat your favorite carnival treats at the Carnival Midway, which will be open daily throughout the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. The carnival is completely cashless. Magic Money wristbands, available for purchase, include $50 of midway credits, as well as grounds admission to the show. All purchases are deducted from the Magic Money wristband balances, which can be reloaded through the Magic Money app, available in the App Store and Google Store.

Themed Discount Days

Cash in on designated discount days by wearing merchandise relevant to the theme of the day. These days include:

  • Jan. 16: Dickies Day Wear Dickies apparel to receive free grounds admission courtesy of Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing. Special discounts on Dickies apparel with rodeo ticket stub. Grounds admission does not include the rodeo.
  • Jan. 18: Texas A&M Day Free grounds admission is provided to anyone wearing apparel representing all Texas A&M University System institutions, including Tarleton State University and other A&M System schools (does not include rodeo admission). Half-price rodeo tickets for Jan. 18 are available to anyone with a valid Texas A&M University System ID card.
  • Jan. 25: TCU Day Wear your TCU duds for free grounds admission (does not include rodeo). Present a valid TCU student ID or faculty ID at the rodeo ticket office for half off rodeo tickets for the TCU Day performance.
  • Jan. 30: Texas Tech Day All guests wearing Texas Tech clothing with the school logo will receive free grounds admission.

There also will be a Military Appreciation Day on Jan. 29. Complimentary rodeo tickets — including grounds admission — will be provided to active and retired service members and their immediate families.
