What to do at the Fort Worth Stock Show 2024 (2024)

Rodeo fans have a jam-packed few weeks to look forward to and it’s all thanks to the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

The 23-day event kicks off on Friday, Jan. 12, and runs through Saturday, Feb. 3. Contrary to what some may think, the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo offers attendees much more than your run-of-the-mill rodeo activities like livestock shows, bull riding, barrel racing and mutton busting.

Each day, there are numerous contests and competitions that guests can witness and partake in, but that’s not all! There’s also a slew of vendors on-site for attendees to browse, carnival rides, food and drink options for purchase, games, live entertainment, music performances and so much more.

Whether you’re interested in hard-hitting rodeo events or secondhand happenings, here is a rundown of what to do at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

2024 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo All Western Parade

There’s no better way to kick-start a new rodeo season than with a parade! The All Western Parade is a tradition at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and it will take place at 11 a.m. CST on Saturday, Jan. 13. The parade will feature a pageantry of riding clubs and queens with music by the TCU marching band.

Tickets are required to attend the parade, and reserved seating parade tickets are available for purchase. All tickets must be purchased in advance, as there will be no on-site ticket purchases for the parade. Tickets purchased on or after Jan. 1 are will-call only and must be picked up at the Dickies Arena box office ahead of the parade.

You can buy parade tickets for two areas: the convention center or Sundance Square. Parade tickets for seats at the convention center are $15 each. Parade tickets for a spot at Sundance Square are $25 each. There will be a $2 fee added to each order.

Contests and competitions at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is bustling with an array of contests and competitions. From the Fiddle Showdown with $7,500 in scholarships on the line for youths between the ages of 14 and 18 (must be Texas residents) to an equine IQ contest that requires participants to show off their horse senses, there’s bound to be a contest or competition that piques your interest.

If you’re more into farming, there are a slew of contests that involve F-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) members, such as dairy cattle judging, goat judging and horse judging.

There is also an art contest, and all submitted entries will be displayed at the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall, 3401 W. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, for the entirety of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo for attendees to view.

If music is more your speed, the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo will feature the Texas Invitational Mariachi Competition on Saturday, Jan. 13. This unique, non-UIL competition features eight top high school mariachi teams who will go head to head. The event’s championship finale will include a performance composed by the top three finalists.

What’s a stock show and rodeo without the main course, aka rodeo events? The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo provides a daily dose of roping and riding with events like Bulls’ Night Out by PRCA Xtreme Bull Riding and the ProRodeo Tournament, but that’s not all.

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo also will feature the Best of the West Ranch Rodeo, which includes events like mutton busting, Best of Mexico Celebración, which includes thrilling trick riders and folkloric dancers and the Cowboys of Color Rodeo, which shines a light on African American, Hispanic and Native American cowboys and cowgirls as they compete in traditional rodeo events such as bull riding, steer wrestling and tie-down roping.

The Best of the West Ranch Rodeo takes place on Friday, Jan. 12, and Saturday, Jan. 13. The Best of Mexico Celebración takes place on Sunday, Jan. 14. The Cowboys of Color Rodeo will take place on Monday, Jan. 15. The ProRodeo Tournament will take place daily starting Friday, Jan. 19, through Saturday, Feb. 3.

Live music performances at the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

It just ain’t a Texas rodeo without some live entertainment, and the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is coming in hot with its 2024 live music lineup! This year’s rodeo will feature performances by some of country music’s most iconic acts such as Old Crow Medicine Show on Thursday, Jan. 18, country music artist Trace Adkins on Friday, Jan. 19, R&B singer Smokey Robinson on Saturday, Jan. 20, and Tanya Tucker on Friday, Jan. 26.

There are three different stages for live music performances at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo: The Corkyard, which is a wine tent and music venue located in Simmons Bank Plaza at Dickies Arena; Bud Light Roadhouse, a live entertainment hub that’s also located in Simmons Bank Plaza at Dickies Arena; and Will Rogers Auditorium, which is where bigger acts like Trace Adkins will perform.

Daily admission to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo will grant visitors access to the Bud Light Roadhouse and The Corkyard. Additionally, entry is free if you purchase a souvenir pin, an official Fort Worth Stock Show badge or a membership to the nearby museums or the Botanical Research Institute of Texas.

Those hoping to catch a performance at Will Rogers Auditorium will need to get a separate ticket for the show via Ticketmaster or ticket resale websites like StubHub or SeatGeek. However, tickets to any show at Will Rogers Auditorium throughout the 23-day event include grounds admission to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

Rides and Carnival Midway fun at Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

What’s a rodeo without some sketchy yet thrilling carnival fun? Similar to years past, the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo will feature an assortment of carnival rides for daredevils of all ages at the Carnival Midway. Here, attendees will find games, an assortment of rides ranging from chill to thrill, and classic carnival food for purchase.

The Carnival Midway is completely cashless and all purchases can be deducted from the balance on a Magic Money wristband. These wristbands include $50 of Midway credits and also admission to the grounds. Wristbands can be reloaded through the Magic Money app, which is available in the App Store or the Google Store.

You can purchase a Magic Money wristband at the Dickies Arena Box Office, 1911 Montgomery St., Fort Worth; the Fort Worth Stock Show offices, 3400 Burnett Tandy Drive; any entrance gate at the Fort Worth Stock Show; or at the Carnival Midway.
